The planetary catastrophe is one of the key issues of our time, requiring ecologizing interventions. The starting point of this article is the thesis that the unexamined assumptions underlying both educational theory and pedagogical practice must themselves be subjected to critique. How can we address the inevitability and urgency of these problems from an educational and theoretical perspective? What would be the prerequisites for acting differently and incorporating intergenerational justice? How can we rethink our relationships with the Earth and with human and more-than-human beings? We propose to radically rethink education and pedagogy as fundamentally relational – existing-with: with other generations and with the living fabric that inhabits this planet.
