Debating Federal Land Governance in Myanmar : Issues and Challenges
BFD
English
Issues related to land governance are extremely complex in most agrarian societies, in a conflict-prone country like Myanmar, conflicts over use and distribution of land are influenced by societal changes, rule of law issues and wide-spread conflict induced displacement. This paper gives an overview of the current land governance landscape in Myanmar and uses comparative examples to examine what kind of land governance practices would be feasible and desirable in a future federal Myanmar.
