English Repetition of information has been shown to affect the perceived validity of the items repeated with these effects carried over to an inferred assumption. We believe this is highlighted in everyday communication and can result in acceptance of fallacious argumentation. We explain this phenomenon via the notion of Context Selection Constraints and discuss the effectiveness of the ad populum fallacy with the help of an experimental design.
