English Gamification is a new trend that has gained increasing importance in climate protection. In recent years, researchers have begun to integrate game elements into non-gaming contexts to encourage green behaviours. Several attempts at developing games to stimulate pro-environmental behaviours have been made, showing effective results. The city of Sierre jumped on the bandwagon and initiated a project aiming to use gamification to encourage its population to engage in green behaviours. As part of its significant effort to commit to climate protection, the city acknowledged the need to involve the population to achieve its climate objectives. Sierre has therefore collaborated with the HES-SO to give the chance to students to conceptualise a game on the theme of sustainable development for the population.
