  <dc:description xmlns:ns0="xml" ns0:lang="en">This essay presents Thomas Aquinas's understanding of God's holiness. It is divided into three parts: first, the holiness of God according to the unity of his essence; second, the holiness of each divine person grasped in his distinction; and third, the adjective “holy” in the compound name “Holy Spirit.” Holiness refers to purity (purity of goodness and mercy), firmness, and separation. In a sense that is more closely linked to the person of the Holy Spirit, holiness refers to the Love by whom the Father loves himself, loves his Son, and loves us. And through the theme of love, holiness is also closely associated with rectitude of will, goodness, order to God, consecration to God, and especially consecration to the worship of God.</dc:description>
