<dc:description xmlns:ns1="xml" ns1:lang="en">This article analyses the failure to access Swiss hospitals’ fieldwork where second and third trimesters of pregnancy’s abortion are performed. I argue that the main issue is centered on dissonant definitions of so-called “collaboration” between medical sciences and social sciences. I offer to explore three main explanations to understand how these definitions are shaped and how they led to a failure of negotiations to access fieldwork: different and hierarchical scientific norms between social sciences and medical sciences, a capitalist competitive context in academia, and a neoliberal management of hospitals in Switzerland.</dc:description>
