<dc:description xmlns:ns0="xml" ns0:lang="en">The Opus imperfectum in Matthaeum is the most detailed and longest commentary
on the Gospel of Matthew composed by an unknown Arian author at the beginning of
the 5th century.
He compares the notion of image with the portrait of the emperor on the coins, which
is venerated similarly to the emperor himself. As the image of the coin can be wiped off
also the image of God in human can be rubbed off through vices if humans adopt the
image of the worldly king instead of the image of God. Therefore, only a good human
can represent the image of God in imitating him in his good deeds. If humans do well
God will take care of them. The ‘image of God’ is part of the ‘nature’ of human so that
he is able to distinguish good from evil as God can. Only a son resembles his father, not
the slave his master, but we should consider all our neighbours ‘images of God’ too,
because of their nature.</dc:description>
