Far from being just a matter of artistic taste, the "maniera greca" can be interpreted as the outcome of the local appropriation of icon-centered devotional patterns being widespread in Eastern Christianity and the Latin-ruled territories in Syria-Lebanon and the Holy Land</dc:description>
